HalfDork
eleven/1/16 xi:35 a.yard.

I'm looking at one to take the place of my Monster. So the Monster would become and the Meanstreak would have over as my master DD, appointment bike, and long touring bike. Everything I read seems good but does anyone have feel with one?

[Also sorry I haven't been effectually much, merely work, life, a totaled Jeep and shopping for a replacement accept been taking up all my time.]

Nick (Bo) Comstock

Have you ridden a cruiser?

The mean streak is a skillful looking bike.

cabbagecop

I had a Vulcan 1600 Classic which is pretty similar.

octavious

Only ever ridden a Honda Rebel 250 at MS course. I've sat on a agglomeration over the past few months. They feel fine to me. Not as sporty as the Monster or Ninja apparently. But I'd rather share my passion with my wife than leave her behind. She said she would love to beginning taking trips but the Monster (even with the numberless) doesn't take enough room.

Nick (Bo) Comstock

In reply to octavious:

Believe me, riding and sitting on ane are 2 dissimilar things. Earlier you sell the monster see if y'all can become a ride on ane for a while. I'd hate for you lot to make that trade only to detest it.

If information technology's in the upkeep, maybe recall about renting an Hard disk drive for a weekend.

If all else fails I may be able to put you in touch on with a buddy that has a Suzuki intruder 1400 that may exist amiable to letting you ride it if yous allow him ride your cycle.

From your bicycle history in thinking a sport touring bicycle would be the thing. Only I may be wrong.

markwemple

Aye, sport touring. Safety, fun and competent.

Ducati Diavel. Best of both worlds. I have a yard miles (i/3rd of the bike's total miles so far) of two-up riding on mine so far and information technology'due south excellent. SWMBO likes it a lot - particularly 3rd gear pulls. Don't bother with a Strada though, aftermarket numberless are far better.

Dave, I wish. I love those, but a piddling out of my pay range right now.

Nick and Mark, we sabbatum on several ST bikes, Honda ST1100 and 1300, FJR, and both styles of Concours. She liked the Concours the best of those, but still felt like she was sliding into me. Which is one of the problems with my 650r and Monster, she feels that she slides into me and is causing me to go smashed on the tank or could possible cause an effect with the steering or controls.

We saturday on Kawasaki 900 and 1500 Vulcans, Honda VTX and Shadow, and Yamaha Warrior and Stratoliner. The but one of those not still in the hunt is the Shadow because it felt too low for me, and it was a 750 so I worried size would exist also modest. On all those she felt she had enough room that she a) didn't have to concur onto me for love life, b) could come across over my helmet of what was in front of us, perhaps the biggest c) that she wasn't sliding into me.

FYI cruisers are non my kickoff selection, merely...it ways I become to take a hobby that both she and I savour and for that I concede.

Also 2 bikes won't work right now and so.

Any BMWs? How near Ducati STs?

octavious

Yes. BMW RT and GS. No other Ducatis. Merely Vstrom and Tenere likewise. And while I Animalism over the R-nine-T it isn't practical or affordable.

Also with the ST'southward and the ADV bikes we sat on those and she feels they were too alpine. She's short so fifty-fifty climbing on some of those was an issue.

I've come to the determination a cruiser is in my future. I'm asking nearly the Mean Streak considering I have a line on one that could hateful trading the Ducati for it.

Thanks

How nigh a big UJM like the 1200 Brigand?

MulletTruck

Practice you lot have a motorbike rental place close to yous? Something similar Eaglerider? You lot can rent a bike with similar Ergos and see if the feet forward thing is for y'all.

I second the Bandit 1250, Tin can be had inexpensive, Neutral ergos and pretty quick for a big bike.

octavious

Well I did it.

Rode the Ducati from Knoxville to Elevation MS today. 385 miles. And it beat me bad. This was my showtime long interstate stint on information technology ever. The only other one was about 150 miles. After that ride I knew information technology had to go. Information technology beat the forepart function of my knees to decease. My butt and lower dorsum were sore, and my shoulders and next were awful.

I made information technology to Meridan afterward multiple stops just to stretch cause I didn't need gas or to pee. Met with the owner of the Mean Streak did the bargain and took off towards Tuscaloosa AL where I had made a hotel reservation.

The MS is fashion unlike than the Monster. Non just different seating merely besides power delivery, throttle, etc. The affair was a shine animal for the 90 miles back to Tuscaloosa but it did 85-ninety on the interstate like nothing. Only dull maneuvers like parking lots is totally different and awkward

Nick (Bo) Comstock

Cool. Hope yous like it.

MulletTruck

Absurd! Hopefully you will have a take chances to do more touring on the bike. Zip similar seeing the land on ii wheels!
